As we have seen this year, leadership is more than holding a title – it’s about service, example, and the willingness to uplift others. At CCB, our House Captains have embraced this responsibility by modelling respect, teamwork, and school spirit within their Houses. In their reports below, they reflect on the importance of leadership and the role it plays in strengthening our community.

Chisholm House Captain, Kira Pendlebury: Being the 2025 Chisholm House Captain has been such a rewarding experience, as it’s given me the chance to support and encourage others while also learning more about myself. One of the best parts has been working alongside Akin, my Chisholm Partner. We've built a great friendship and had so much fun leading together. From dressing up in fun costumes to cheering everyone on, these moments have brought so much laughter and added to my Year 12 Experience. I’ve realised that leadership isn’t just about being in charge, but about setting a good example, building team spirit, and creating memories that bring people closer together.

Chisholm House Captain, Akin Suksing: My time as Chisholm House captain has been fun because of the help of Kira. We made the role fun, coming up with ideas like Christmas songs, dressing as elves, or even the Cat in the Hat. We helped each other out and kept things running smoothly. Chisholm did really well in athletics and cross-country, with lots of winners and loads of people joining in. The best part was seeing everyone get involved and having fun. It’s been a great year full of laughs and good memories, and I’m happy I got to do it.

McDonald_Marissa.jpg
MacKillop House Captain, Marissa McDonald: Being MacKillop House Captain alongside Keira was one of the most rewarding experiences of my school journey. Together, we led with pride, determination, and a shared commitment to lifting the spirit of our house. One of the highlights was winning the swimming carnival was a moment that brought out the very best in our team and showed the power of unity and encouragement. Standing side by side with Keira, celebrating the victory, was not just about the trophy but about the unforgettable memories we created along the way, cheering until our voices were gone, rallying our peers, and feeling the energy of everyone coming together as one. That experience taught me that true leadership is about inspiring others, celebrating their strengths, and making moments that will last long after the events are over.

MacKillop House Captain, Keira Sharp: Being a House Captain has taught me that leadership is not just about giving directions, but about setting the tone for others through encouragement, teamwork, and resilience. This role has taught me responsibility, communication, and the ability to bring people together towards a shared goal. Most importantly, it has shown me that true leadership is about service, supporting others, celebrating their achievements, and creating an environment where everyone feels proud to belong.

Xavier House Captain, Will Grant: Leading Xavier House this year has been one of the most memorable parts of my school experience. Taking over from Will at the start of the year was a big step, but I was excited for the challenge and grateful to have such a great leadership squad to help me out. Together, we brought great energy to every event and helped build a strong and supportive house culture. As I come to the end of my time at school, I’m proud to look back on this experience as a highlight. It’s been a great journey. Also a big thank you to Kehlei for her guidance and encouragement, especially early on. It’s been a great journey, and I’m thankful for the chance to lead and grow through it and lastly - GO XAVIER!

Xavier House Captain, Kehlei Cowan:   Being House Captain for Xavier in my final year, alongside Will, has been such a great experience. We've had a lot of fun leading the house together, whether it was getting everyone hyped for carnivals, helping run assemblies, or just trying to keep the energy up throughout the year. It’s been a really good experience to be part of something bigger and to have the chance to support younger students and help build that Xavier spirit. I’ve learned a lot along the way, and I’m proud of what we’ve done as a team. I am forever grateful for the experience that I had this year, and I hope the next captain keeps the Xavier spirit running. GO XAVIER!!

I thank each of the House Captains for their incredible energy and initiatives they have each bought to the college. Thanks for handing out the birthday lollipops each morning, and thank you for pumping up your House groups during carnivals and special occasions.
